Our Recommendations

Homestead Theater

We visited The Omni Homestead Resort in April for four days, just after Easter. It was very quiet as we were there mainly during the weekdays. With that said, the Homestead is a resort you can visit any time of the year.

Lodging

  • Our family of five stayed in a Deluxe Garden Wing Room with two double beds and we had an infant in a crib. We could have probably stayed in a larger room. The space in our room did not deter our stay.

Dining

  • Bacova Beer Co.: we were going to have dinner at this brewery but went on a Tuesday. Unfortunately Tuesday is the only day the brewery is closed.
  • Afternoon Social Hour: each afternoon in the Great Hall there’s a social hour (3-4 p.m.) with pastry treats and a selection of hot and iced teas. The cost for this is included in the daily resort charge.
  • Jefferson’s Restaurant: the Homestead website describes Jefferson’s Restaurant as “an elegant, yet casual dining experience” which is spot on. We had a lovely dinner here with our family.
  • Jefferson’s Taproom: this pub-style setting offers lunch and dinner along with cocktails and multiple beer options for adults.
  • Martha’s Market: a great grab and go option. We had breakfast here most mornings.
  • Sam Snead Tavern: we ate dinner at Sam Snead twice as a few of the restaurants were being renovated during our stay. There are many kids options to choose from! Sam Snead Tavern is off-property but it’s a very short walk from the resort.

Things to Do with Kids

  • Game Room: a fun family game area with a pool table, air hockey, and arcade games.
  • Golf: my husband played the Old Course and my 3 year old son joined him for the round. The staff was very welcoming to have him join my husband.
  • Historic Tour: complimentary tours of the resort are given daily at 10:00 a.m.
  • Homestead Theater: we became regulars at the movie theater each night. I believe the movies started around 7 p.m. but the concierge can provide further details during your stay. This is another activity that’s included in the daily resort charge.
  • Warm Springs Pools: unfortunately we didn’t experience this with our kids but I’ve been to these pools many times prior and I highly recommend visiting them. Definitely check the hours and age limits on the Omni website.
  • Pools: the indoor pool was closed for renovations while we were there but the outdoor pool was open, and heated. The two-acre water park, Allegheny Springs, is fed by the waters from the natural springs. The lazy river and slides are seasonal but the outdoor pool is open from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Our kids loved the pool and the adults loved the hot tub!

There are many, many more activities and experiences at the Omni Homestead Resort and the surrounding area that I did not cover. It’s definitely worth checking out the Homestead website further and/or calling the concierge to learn more. We are looking forward to returning to the Omni Homestead Resort!
